It doesn't surprise me that Florida is not one of the poorest states. There are a lot of rich people in the state and it's a great state to put your assets for tax purposes. There are a lot of wealthy retirees, too, that get more in pensions than a lot of Southerners make per month.

On the other hand, although it looks like the poorest states are in the South there is a very low cost of living in those states as well. You may make big bucks in New York but what are your costs, your taxes?

Just food for thought.

Yes, most of the winter for sure. We had the heater checked out a few days ago.

We have been in Florida many times during the winter and swim in the pools.

We spent many years at Disney for New Years and had no problem being in the pool.

Agreed. Shows how much some people know about Ohio or the north in general. Nobody has "lanai's" in the north. They have patios. And yes, BBQs, swimming in heated pools and nice breezes all happen in September because it's WARM (not hot and humid like it still is in FL). When it's finally warm in FL for a few months in winter, the pools need to be heated for most to enjoy, especially if you've lived in FL for awhile.
