Some of the local gov't jobs site have applications asking that the applicant have a valid FL DL in order to apply for a job. This brings up the question what if I have a DL from another state does this qualify? Or is this a way of discouraging out of state applicants? Do they really want to force people to lie on applications? Momma always told me to get the job before you move and that's what I intend to do.

What type of work are you applying for? That may help with advice.

CAD/GIS type work that doesn't require a clearance.

that's unfortunate to hear if true. I also want to get a job and then relocate. but it seems difficult because of stories like this.

oh well, difficult doesn't mean impossible. keep trying. i know I'm going to!

Most jobs that I have seen in government, like the one I took, require a valid Florida DL upon APPOINTMENT. Check the fine print and see if that is the case.

Very true! If not in the fine print, just contact them directly either by email or land line to get your answer. You will not find it here.

Just a note:

You are required by law to have your FLDL within the first 30 days of residency.

I had to have a valid Florida license to apply for a public school district position, and also for a non-profit agency. However, I also had to have a NY license for the same there too.

Maybe a private business doesn't require it, but government and non profits require it.

called both of the government agencies and they allow a grace period for getting your FL DL; that it does not automitically dq you.
