I also am moving to Florida in July and this has some great information about questions I have! I am looking at Panama City or Punta Gorda - Panama City because I love it there, but Punta Gorda because I have family in Sebring and it's one of the closest (nearly) coastal cities to there. Anyway, after reading everyone's posts, I am now realizing just how much I need to know Spanish. So, my questions are: which city has the best job rates and what program can I get to quickly learn Spanish? I cannot afford Rosetta Stone, so that's not an option. I will have my Information Technology degree in Computer Security in a year, but for now I am am Certified Bartender and an Office Manager. I would appreciate any help - especially from those who live in either of these 2 cities! Thanks.

Spanish won't come in handy in Punta Gorda and probably the same for Panama City. Spanish will be more handy in S FL and Orlando.

Punta Gorda and Panama City are awful for IT work.

For IT work, you need to be near the bigger cities like Tampa, Orlando, Jacksonville and the whole S FL region(Miami, Ft Lauderdale/Palm Beach and all the related suburbs. )

If you want to live in Punta Gorda, Ft Myers has a small number of IT jobs compared to the larger FL cities. Expect lots of retirees in that area. Snowbird season (Jan-Feb-Mar-Apr) brings a lot more folks into the area and traffic increases during that time.
