No I'm one of the very few here. The transplants in Lakeland seem to come from MI, OH, IND, and a few other Midwestern states. The others are snowbirds from Ontario and eastern Canada. Any other transplants seem to be from Spanish Speaking countries.

We come from Long Island from a town that has a strong downtown main street...and can appreciate what you say regarding "bedroom" communities and "towns" (although we do not want a Mayberry either!

In Wesley Chapel we're looking into a new master planned community and so it offers a lot, but it comes with a price. At the end of day we looking for a (in this order) safe, friendly community, that offers good outdoor living. (we're semi-retiring will not have any kids in school (one will be in college) -- and we've heard from a friend that Lakeland has some crime, but I also hear that I'd probably get more for the money.

I also recommend this. My mom and sis lived in Eaglebrook in Lakeland Highlands for a while. They loved it, and I loved to visit them out there.
