NHC has the eye slightly offshore around Jupiter (I know the cone).....Ventusky has the eye solidly onshore

that's real early Sun morning......

..you guys up the east coast keep your eye on it....Ventusky has been more accurate than the NHC

In S Fl scattered showers tonite and then possible steady rains for at least all day Saturday. Per the Map Link, if you do a close up WPB seems to be for now the eye/center of circulation

We're good here in the Boonies

I just drove by Macy's in the Falls. There are dozens of FPL trucks in the parking lot. It's good that they are staging for this even if we don't get hit.

I got out of Dodge today - was visiting Cape Canaveral for Perseverance. The folks back there didn't seem overly concerned at all. Anyway, I moved inland and north - out of the path. Was going to stay there for a 3-4 more days and enjoy the beach. Would have been interesting to see the weather but not worth being bogged down on an inlet if things get ugly.

It will get caught in the Gulf Stream and veer off into the Atlantic. The high population area of South Florida doesn't need to worry.

Thanks for bringing this up.

Hopefully the most intense portions will stay off shore. I don't think there is a need to panic, as we've had enough of that since March lol. However, it's better to be safe than sorry, especially for those in the coastal counties on the east.

Another dud bud. I just can't buy a tropical system on my side of the sate nate. With sinking air to the west of the storm norm it will heat my area up and dry it out. most of the core weather will be east of the state plus the upper levels will blow much of the heavy weather well east of the state.

It seems to be on the path of Hurricane Matthew (2016) where it was pulled out to the Atlantic by the Gulfstream just enough that the worst we saw was Category 2 winds from a Cat 5 storm. Let's hope that holds trend...

People are too quick to forget the physicality of a hurricane.

Here's a quick reminder.

The eye wall is where the strongest winds are. This means that the eye has to go directly over an area to inflict the 'max wind speed'. Relative to the size of any tropical storm/cyclone, the eye is minuscule. This is @ cat 1 right now and will stay off the coast. Wind speeds will be negligible for coastal Florida.

Just because you see a huge storm on the radar, doesn't mean that, that behemoths outer bands are inflicting devastating damage.
