Greetings Everyone,

This is my first post here, and I apologize for jumping right in. I am looking for information about how I would go about permanently relocating to the United States, specifically Florida.

I am a British Citizen, born and raised in England, however for the past 3 years I have been living in south europe due to a lower cost of living.

I am 24 years old and a self-employed web designer and developer, earning around £35,000 pounds per year (projected to increase for £45,000 this year). I have been self employed for over five years now and keep meticulous records of my work. My clients are located around the world, including several in the United States.

In addition to my main profession, I have an internet LLC registered within the US state of Delaware - this was registered in partnership with a states-based business partner.

For specific reasons that are unimportant, I would like to re-locate to Florida (Kissimmee, Osceala area) within the next 12 to 18 months, and I am currently seeking information on the best way to do this.

I do not have any job offers, nor am I a student. I do not have any family in the United States. I have approximatly $70,000 dollars in savings, another $15,000 in material assets (at least) and earn around $3000-4000 per month after tax (it varies). I am interested in buying property within Florida, however I would like to rent for a year or so first to ensure I am not making any mistakes.

As mentioned, I am self employed, and would have no issue with registering my company within the United States if it helped with getting a visa to remain here year round. I understand that I can get a visa to live here for upto 6 months per year, however I would like to make it a permanent move, so that I can sell all of my UK/Europe assets and move completely.

I am looking for information about how to move here. I know that my circumstances might not present the easiest options, however, I am patient and determined. I want to get this done properly.

Any advise and current information that anyone can provide would be much appreciated.

Thanks
Zach

dude, u should probably just look at the US immigration website. such as usimmigrationsupport.org.

It's a lengthy, difficult, and expensive process to go though, especially since u have no family, property, etc in the US.

I really hope it works out for u either way, but best to check the US immigration websites to file the proper paprers, etc.

I knew a few people hat have immigrated to the US from south america and it was quite a process for them, however they were just naturalized as US citizens this past Feb. It took them about 8 years.

For someone that has that kind of savings and that kinda of income, I can tell you honestly that your money will go a lot further in many other places. What is it exactly that draws you to the Osceola County area ?

I've been known to be a schill for Texas in this forum (even though I'm a Native Floridian) but honestly, if you were to relocate to the Texas coast (anywhere between Corpus Christi/Brownsville you'd still be fairly close to two of Texas's largest cities (San Antonio/Houston) and your money would go a LOT further.

Good luck in whatever you do !

I have several things drawing me to the Osceola County area, however, they are personal reasons that I do not wish to get into here. I do very much love Florida - I have visited many areas of Florida over the past year or so, and towns in Osceola County such as Kissimmee, Hunters Creek, etc are all very nice to me, and in fact, on visits there, I've made friends already in those areas.

I am really hoping that someone here can provide me with some solid advise about getting a visa to live permanently in Florida.

I wish you luck ! 70k and 3-4K a month (i'm assuming U.S.) should be more than enough to start a life in Florida

You are going to have to contact your nearest US Consulate or Embassy in the UK.

After you talk to them you will proably need to contact an immigration attorney in the US. You could always get the 6 month visa, find a place to rent for 6 months and while you are here get an attorney. Legal immigration is not an easy process and a long process. There are so many people coming in illegally that the country unfortunately has the side effect of not having as many legal immigrants as it could. Without contacting an attorney you probably will not be able to get much done.

the 6 month (B2) visa does not allow you to work.
there is a company transfer called the L1 but your 'foreign' company would have to continue trading and have staff to run it (you cannot do it remotely). my feeling is you dont qualify

that leaves an E2 investment visa, with this you will have to demonstrate you will employ American staff.

i am afraid a one person IT company will not fly to get you a visa.

with all due respect and I am not meaning to belittle or be rude but your current assets and earnings are at the lower end of the sort of levels Immigration will be looking for.

there is a good website called britishexpats and you should definitely have an initial consultation with an immigration attorney

One thing is called the Green Card Lottery. I think this is still part of the US Immigration system. Then, there are the sponsor/job routes, but you've already mentioned that.

You could always get your 6 month visa, meet a woman, and get married...
