My husband and I are thinking about retiring to Palm Coast Florida...we are very active and enjoy getting out. We have a little ****zu that we adore and would want to take her pretty much everywhere we go. We want to be close to int'l airport and boating. What are the pros and cons?

All areas have issues. Some areas more than others. Check out the crime reports for the areas you research. The issue is that Palm Coast has cheap real estate which brings in a lower dempgraphic to the area.
I live here now for about 7 years and there are better areas to move to.
You should rent and learn the area before committing to it.

Palm Coast is an awesome area.....I lived there for years! Just because the housing is under $400,000, doesnt mean there is a lower demographic. There are plenty of things to do....and, nice people. Also, it is still beautiful, not too overdeveloped!

Palm Coast is Beautiful! So many pros we couldn't be happier with our choice of Palm Coast. You will love all the trails and parks, and beaches close by.

The only thing on your list you want to look at is the Airport. We fly into Daytona which means a little more for the flight and at least one stop over in flights unless your coming from Charlotte or Atlanta. You can fly into Jacksonville as well but it is about the same with a little longer drive. The cab fare from Daytona about a 25 min. drive is about $60 but its worth it once your in Town. The other option is to rent a car drive to your place and then return it to the rental once you have your car about a $45 option plus your time. We usually do the car rental.

The thing that stands out about Palm Coast is all the nature left in place and the beautiful trails the wrap through the city to enjoy them. It is very easy to stay active in Palm Coast.

You have no doubt read the drawbacks about boring and no shopping, these things are well overstated. Daytona and st. Augustine are only minutes away and we have plenty of local shopping here.

Crime seems to be high all over the State but we found by looking at the web site familywatchdog.com Palm Coast has a lower amount of active aggressive criminals residing in town.

Hope this helps.

We looked at Palm Coast back a few years ago. For size it is ok community. The hospital is a fake joke there, so expect to go to Daytona if you need a hospital, they are also known to dump people on street and even doctors they dump when they don't earn the hospital enough $. The housing is low but we saw some good ones. Far from airports. We decided Palm Coast was not for us

We've recently moved here from elsewhere in Florida and have found it wonderful so far. There are three airports that are pretty convenient - Daytona Beach, Orlando, and Jacksonville. And, depending on which section of PC you decide to buy, you can be less than 6 or 7 minutes from the ocean.

For your dog, there are two public dog parks and LOTS of places to walk her!

As a side note, we've also found vet care to be very available and reasonably priced as well. Flagler Animal Hospital is outstanding and is going to be open 24/7 starting in May!
