Recently, we saw this bird near our house, we never saw anything like it before (we are new to Florida). I tried looking it up on some bird identification sites, but I guess I'm not good at using them because I couldn't find it.

It's a White Ibis. A common bird that is often seen in groups.

Yuppers... and the juvenile birds are brown... then change to white. They usually are in a group on the ground, and fly in a "V" formation like ducks. They like soft ground, especially after heavy rains.... otherwise you'll find them on "wet praire" areas.... and on a disgusting note... they love a manure pit! they look (poke the ground) for all the things that eat road apples.

Taste like chicken

Is the ibis the same thing as the cattle egret?
(I understand that there are larger egrets, but I am not talking about them.)

Nope different species. Egrets are in the White Heron family.

This is why I am confused about that, the cattle egret's species name is
Bubuculus Ibis
I understand that there are Great Egrets, Snowy Egrets etc.
After looking at the link below, I think maybe I get it, but the semantics still kinda confuse me.
water birds

I understand how it can be confusing the Cattle Egret is Bubulcus ibis and the White Ibis is Eudocimus albus. The Cattle Egret is considered a small heron.
I think the difference is in their foraging techniques and their posture. The Cattle Egret does the head bob, and the White Ibis sticks there head into the ground like a drill.
