I've never liked leather seats as i dont know about other peoples experiences but i find em damn hot when the car has been sitting in the sun or damn cold in the winter, i also find em kinda slippery when doing performance driving, i also notice the constant sitting in the sun has a tendency to crack the leather after a few years,my preferred set up is cloth seats and good seat covers so the seats look like new when resale time comes around.
Go to a dealer and plop yourself down in a car with leather seats thats been sitting in the sun all day, then do the same with a car that has cloth seats...

If you have covered parking, leather seats are totally fine in FL or anywhere (except maybe Arizona... I sat on black leather in Tucson once. ONCE.)

Personally, I don't think I'll get another car w/ leather unless it's a luxury car. I prefer alcantara. Just as easy to clean as leather (except it never gets dirty), but a nice suede-like feel and grippy for most performance driving situations. I agree that leather sucks in the turns.

I beg to differ. Maybe south Middle and south West Tenn. is close in temps to northern Florida but for the most part, no. I lived in Orlando and then down in Southwest Florida and those temps are nowhere near, say Knoxville's.

Anyway, after living in Florida for ten years I vote for cloth. I use to sell cars in Florida and there is no way I would buy leather.

Leather, like vinyl is not the best choice for the Florida tropical summer. Something you will not find way up in Tennessee. If you do get the leather also get cloth seat covers for the extended Florida summer.

I have a dog that sheds so part of the reason I was thinking of leather is the fur comes off easier. Thanks fo your opinions. Looks like I would just end up covering up the leather anyway so I'll save a money and get clothe. But keep the opinsions coming--I could be swayed)))

I know a lot of people with leather seats and they really don't seem too bad to me. If you get your windows tinted (that's legal here) and use a sunshade in the windshield, that helps a lot even if you are parked in direct sun. I personally hate how cloth seats get dirty and are so difficult to clean and keep clean. So much that I am considering buying a leather conversion kit for my car.

A co-worker drove a Lincoln for awhile that had COOLED leather seats, and that my friends, was heaven! I really want that feature in my next car, screw the heated seats!

Here's the difference. it may get as hot (Highly Doubt) and even it it did, it's hotter longer in Florida. Some places in Florida don't even drop below 80 at night and can start off at 81,82,83 in the morning and be 90 degrees for 9+ hours . Plus it's warm here more like End of March through Nov/December. Of course not the whole state, but I only speak of the Southern Peninsula.

Another thing, I drove an Infiniti G35. leather seats don't get too hot if you have tiny. Not standard tint either but real Tint. They actually stay pretty cool in the summer. Someone stated bout leather tearing easily. I've never seen that. Through an Avalon XLE, G35, Nissan Titan, never seen leather tear. Not even in my friends Caddy! So if you take care of your seats , then the leather will treat you well!

Well than I have to ask. Do you have your windows tinted when you buy a new car or do you have that done after?
