Do a lot of research.

Adjust to your needs.

Spend actual time in the list of towns you have looked into.

Stay away from sprawl areas.

Do you have kids?
Need a job?

I spent a lot of time researching and found the town that fits us best. Not close to the ocean like we wanted to be but within a short drive so its all good. Central to everything we like to do.

Both of my kids are both at the top of their classes here like they were in Ohio. Schools can be bad but again it comes down to good parenting and teaching your kids the importance of a good education etc.

Florida kids lack good parenting in my opinion and yet the schools get the blame. Many kids struggle because parents are not involved or dont care. Which is sad.

We are coming up on 21 months in Florida. Amazing how time has went by.

Spend foot time in some towns. Rent a house or something close by and go shopping, dining, talking to locals etc.

Hi Sunny - we are moving to Florida from CT in the summer. I grew up in Ocala but have been in CT for the past 24 years. I also have two school aged children. We are mainly looking at Citrus County. I do have a question for you though, what do you mean by sprawl area? I'm just curious. I've been doing tons of research, which is how I came across this board. Happy to hear how much you love living down there!
