Hi,
I'm a 28 year old single male (just broke up w/ my gf) and want to relocate to another part of Florida from Jacksonville. Trouble is, I've not been to any of the cities above. Can someone tell me which of the above would be a good fit? Right now, I'm leaning towards St. Petersburg. I'm looking for A.) Walkability B.) Cool Arts (Hipster) scene C.) Lots of twenty/thirty somethings D.) Great historic areas E.) Great Beaches and concerts. I'd also like a city that's attractive looks-wise in case my friends come down for a visit. Please let me know what you think?
Mike

Any one of those choices would fit your needs, as you are already in Fla. why not take a few long weekends and drive to these potential destinations.

I think Miami's "hipster" scene will disappoint you the most out of the 3. Miami is incredibly unoriginal and shallow when it comes to American music. The young people there are overwhelmingly into top 40 pop and hip hop, especially if it is sexy, gangsta, or ethnic.

I don't know about Ft. Lauderdale. I've just kinda been there in passing. St. Petersburg on the other hand is *the* city for hipsters IMO. It's one of the most pedestrian and bicyclist friendly cities in Florida, imo. Lots of smug young people around who are too cool for school and like bands you've never heard of. I love that city and would like to move my business there..

St Pete would be your best option in Florida in my opinion. Check out the neighborhoods of Downtown, Kenwood, Round Lake, Crescent Lake and especially the neighboring SW town of Gulfport. Gulfport Florida
