Why can't Floridians' get a cut from Tourism dollars? What am I missing?

We already do! Those "tourism dollars" are a big part of the reason you have no state income taxes!

I'm not sure how much FL made in tourism, but the state budget for 2013 was $69.9 billion.

You're missing a printing press. WE should just have the White house print 300 trillion dollars and give 1 million dollars to every entitled citized (100% of the US population, not 47% like some presidential candidate said)

The two are not comparable. The oil is a natural resource that is being removed from the state. It is already there regardless of whether it is exploited or not. Companies are willing to come in and pay for the right to extract it. The money that is derived from tourism is based on someone building a business like any other. It is not extracting a natural resource that cannot be replaced. Providing citizens a dividend from tourism would simply amount to a tax on the tourism industry that doesn't apply to other types of businesses.

Its the same.

You have companies willing to invest in equipment and manpower to extract the oil. The same as you have companies will to invest(building hotels, resorts, loding, recreation, rentals) and manpower to provide services.

Wouldnt the government giving their residents $878. be considered socialism? and if it were and you were anti socialist would you take the money anyway?
