We are in the process of getting quotes for renters insurance...anyone here on the forum have good advice on the topic?? We're new to this renting,..so not sure who to go with. I heard the average yearly cost is $115. The quote we obtained from Geico was a lot higher than that. Just wondering??

Advice?? Opinions??

There really isn't an average cost. It always depends on what you buy. You will need at least $100,000 liability and then figure out how much it would cost to replace everything you own. Don't forget to figure in the little things. For example how much would it cost to replace your artificial Christmas Tree and ornaments? Hard to believe but with trees costing $250 and the price or ornaments, I probably have $2000-$3000 invested in our tree and ornaments etc. When we rented I think I had a policy with $150,000 and $40,000 contents and it was about $300 a year but that was years ago. Check with your car insurance. If you bundle insurances it can make renters policy cost only a few dollars a month. My son's renters policy is almost free with the bundling deduction he got.

Default renters insurance

Thank you! I was figuring low when you think about all the little things...you're right. I guess it is a good idea to take pictures of all your belongings, and price accordingly.
