Really, think of anything Florida is known for, and it wont be culture or jobs. To say otherwise laughable.
Vermont gets snow.
Arizona gets heat.
Texas has armadillos.
Thugs and scammers like FL.

Just the way it is . . .

Have Bath Salt Clinics outnumbered the Pain Clinics on every corner of S.Fl from Northlake down ? On the off chance you ever get out, you will see Bath Salt and Pain Clinics are not legitimate commerce in any other state. Your Gov'nr is an indicted fraud/scammer, sort of figures that ilk is going to take care of their own
If you take away waiting on old golfers, pain clinic attendants, pawn shop counter people, and augmentation clinic attendants, there would be no jobs in FL. If you say you are educated and have seven years education and repeat that over and over again, but settled in S.FL, you are making excuses for why you couldnt make it in the real world.
If you like Florida, cool, Im happy for you . . . But anyone who has traveled or is over 25, or wants to do something with their educational accomplishments, are not going to settle in the land of Disney, half-dead golfers, pain/augmentation clinics and pawn shops. Say you like the beach, warm weather, malls or whatever, but to say there is a job market in florida is beyond ridiculous.

I have traveled all over, am well over 25 and did very well in Florida financially as have a multitude of other people. Those who keep posting rambling incoherent blobs of text and extreme generalizations yet fail to back those generalizations up with any kind of facts are just wasting bandwidth.

Arrests are a good thing. I'm glad that people who do crimes are being arrested. There are bad people everywhere. Where they are not being arrested is where I don't want to live.

Again, 16 Fortune 500 companies headquartered in the entire 20 million strong Florida is pathetic. Look at the list again and find these manufacturing companies here:

1 World Fuel Services 85 Miami 34,622.9

2 Publix Super Markets 106 Lakeland 27,178.8

3 Tech Data 109 Clearwater 26,488.1

4 Jabil Circuit 157 St. Petersburg 16,518.8

5 NextEra Energy 172 Juno Beach 15,341.0

6 AutoNation 197 Fort Lauderdale 13,832.4

7 CSX 226 Jacksonville 11,743.0

8 Office Depot 233 Boca Raton 11,489.5

9 Darden Restaurants 342 Orlando 7,500.2

10 Winn-Dixie Stores 363 Jacksonville 6,929.9

11 WellCare Health Plans 401 Tampa 6,106.9

12 Ryder System 407 Miami 6,050.5

13 Harris 413 Melbourne 5,924.6

14 Health Management Associates 423 Naples 5,822.1

15 Fidelity National Information Services 425 Jacksonville 5,757.4

16 Fidelity National Financial 472 Jacksonville 5,153.7

For comparison, neigboring Georgia with population of 10 million, nearly half of Florida population, has 15 Fortune 500 companies headqurtered there:

1 Home Depot 35 Atlanta 70,395.0

2 United Parcel Service 52 Atlanta 53,105.0

3 Coca-Cola 59 Atlanta 46,542.0

4 Delta Air Lines 83 Atlanta 35,115.0

5 Aflac 128 Columbus 22,171.0

6 Southern 152 Atlanta 17,657.0

7 Genuine Parts 214 Atlanta 12,458.9

8 First Data 243 Atlanta 10,713.6

10 AGCO 292 Duluth 8,773.2

11 Coca-Cola Enterprises 324 Atlanta 7,939.0

12 Newell Rubbermaid 414 Atlanta 5,923.4

13 Mohawk Industries 432 Calhoun 5,642.3

14 NCR 447 Duluth 5,443.0

15 Rock-Tenn 449 Norcross 5,399.6

To recap, anyone who spent some time in Florida knows how poor the state is. Few miles aways from tourists hotspots and you find vast ghettos and high crime. Same in Miami, same in Palm Beach. I bet I can walk five minutes on Atlantic in Delray and that I will be asked for a cigarette more than five times.

Florida is dirt poor. That's mostly because Florida has virtually no high paying manufacturing jobs and lack of these jobs creates vast supply of labor which in turn drives all other wages down.

Florida is also very isolated: most residents would have to derive for 5-6 hours to cross a state line, there is no way for most people to commute to another state in search of higher paying jobs.

You can argue that the cost of living in Florida is much lower however if you spend some time in the state you will realize that this statement is very illusive and the difference does not often offset lower wages, not to mention that once you lose your Florida job you maybe be stranded on ridiculously low $200 dollar Florida unemployment insurance while finding another job may take months.

Floridians are desperate for money which causes Florida to be the fraud capital of the US: identity theft, tax return fraud, mortage fraud, credit card fraud. This article talks about mortgage fraud but you can google for more.

Florida is ranked number 1 or 2 in credit card dept per capita and number 1 or 2 in telephone and internet fraud. Behind that nice tourist facade of South Beach or Boca Raton you have people living in poverty or just border line poverty, for generations.
Georgia's median household income is lower than Florida and they also have a 6% state income tax. If you factor in just state income tax into the median for each state, Florida's median HH income would be right around 26th. I guess that would make 24 other states even lower wages.

Florida is not even in the top 10 in credit card debt according to The federal reserve Bank of NY. InvestingAnswers: 10 States With the Highest Credit Card Debt per Person

Internet fraud, here are your top 5 per capita for 2011, 1. Alaska, 2. District of Columbia, 3. New Jersey, 4.Nevada, 5. Colorado

Any other poo you would like to throw against the wall to see if it sticks?
