We are a a young couple Late twenties, with 4 small children. We are looking to move summer 2014 to florida from Phoenix metro. We have been looking at Orlando area. My husband is from FL and he has always said Sarasota. I personally want a place that is more city than country, (NOT Miami), but is also family friendly with great schools and has a "Newer" look rather than old country look. We would also want a place were we could have Jazz concerts, comedy events, some r&b concerts and etc... We would want to get the most for our home and our budget would be around 300k for at least a 4-5 bedroom home. Being near beaches and etc... is not a necessity. One big thing for us though is crusing. We love to cruise!!!!
My first choice is Lake Mary area in Orlando, only because Orlando is central and it seems more of a nice place to start to move there. It seems more of what I'm looking for just by doing research.
Which cities in Florida would you recommend. TIA

I am looking to move to FL as well. Single, and W/out the kids though..and moving a bit further South... BUT, when I originally went to start looking at where I wanted to live, Lake Mary was my very first pick! It was perfect minus the beaches though, so it's not what I want anymore.. I believe it is in Seminole County, and they have very good schools, from what I heard. It gave me a small town feel. BUt it is very close to Orlando, and the "city life" and you also have everything within an hour or a little more of a drive, like to the Beaches, Cocoa & Clearwater I think were the nicest IMO. Also, Disney, & other theme parks not to far, 45 min... Plus you are out of all the craziness, but not too far from it either. Although it doesn't really feel so much like a "city" but very family friendly and good schools. Altamonte Springs, Winter Springs, Oviedo and Winter Park, which I thought WP is very nice, but also has more Expensive houses. You might like it there
Just an idea of what I saw when I went there. Try researching those areas
Hope it helps.. Good luck with your move :-)
