Inner Florida (Hendry, Highlands, Okechoobee, western Palm Beach, rural areas of Manatee and Sarasota counties etc), all feel southern to me as well.

What he said.

I have not been in Georgia too much, but I have been in Atlanta twice. What I refer to the Georgian feeling (which is just the same as the SC, NC or Virginian (except NoVA)) is the mountainous, rural, religious and generally polite attitude of people. It is funny because I am Latino yet have not been in any kind of racist situation in these states yet, on the contrary people have been overwhelmingly nice to me in these areas. I have, in the other hand, experienced a lot of racism in NoVA, NJ and NY. I like New England.

Generally, Southern people are very nice people and usually when you get into places with a large population, you're more inclined to meet small minded people. I've dealt with the most racism in the Midwest, mostly Ohio and Missouri.

I've only been to one of those four cities, but Gainesville really impressed me. It seemed so green with a thick vegetation of canopy feeling, coming off the highway. It had a really unique feeling to me. But, it wasn't a Georgia feeling, just had a 'this is really cool and different' feeling. Granted, it was just a brief pitstop where we ended up a Mall foodcourt to eat. But, felt very international in there with a lot of seemingly international students.

I don't know if that was a one-off, as didn't see or experience anything else of Gainesville beyond that, but I quite liked what very little I saw.
Dude Gainesville impressed you? Where are you from...Palatka?lol
Gainesville is just another small town with a huge state public university, that's why it attracts "international" students. If you want that green life/trendy neighborhood feel try Orlando's Winter/Thornton Park or Jacksonville's Riverside/Avondale, or Tampa's Hyde Park areas. All these areas will give you a nature vibe with diversity, except you get a city near them instead of an annoying college atmosphere.

Gainesville does not feel like GA to me.
It also one of the most liberal cities in FL.

Small town...lol I have to assume you have never been to Orlando, or if you have you never left the gates of Disney. Try leaving the theme parks next time.

As a southerner, born and bred South Carolinian, why would you even bring up racism? Did you assume that we were all card carrying KKK members as southerners?

Atlanta and Charlotte have lost a lot of their southern feel due to a massive influx of people from all over the US. Different parts of the south are different.

Anywhere north of Orlando to me feels like the deep south.

Saint Augustine was Southern in feel to me. But in a good way. Nice people, beautiful weather/surroundings, small-town atmosphere. I loved it.
