I'm looking for an OB/GYN either in Broward or Palm Beach counties that's geared to natural birth, midwives, etc., and in my search for a new doctor, someone said Coral Springs Medical Center is "ok." Can anyone guide me in the better hospitals in this area especially when it comes to maternity wards and doctors not so quick to do C-sections? I've been told by another Florida resident that natural births seem to be an oddity down here vs. up north, but that's just one person's opinion. My husband and I are not into birth centers, but do want a hospital with a really good rep.

Thanks for any info!

I had both my babies at Coral Spgs Med Ctr in 1999 and 2002. My experience in 99 was wonderful, I couldn't say enough good things about the hospital and nurses. Fast Forward 3 years later and the experience was completely different. ALL of the nurses changed. They "retired" a lot of the higher paid (and higher skilled) nurses for lower paid "I'm just here because it's better than working at Wal-mart" nurses. They don't care, half don't even speak proper English, they are rude and have a bed side manner of a goat . I had the same OBGYN and she seemed to be annoyed at how the hospital was turning downhill. I have several friends who had babies there a few years ago and they said it got even WORSE! DO NOT have your baby there. Sorry I can't guide you where to go, only where not to go.

If you want to have a natural birth you are better off OUT OF THE HOSPITAL. THe C-Section rate in South FL is sooo high that you take up to 70% of having a C-Section once you step foot in a hospital. Unfortunately no matter how set you are on a natural birth the hospital procedures often interfere with your plan of this kind of birth. Sad but true!
