Can I vote Clearwater?? Right on the Gulf, miles of powder white sand, beautiful bridges?

A good list (and I've cast my vote), but I'll suggest an off-the-wall addition to it -- downtown Key West.

Yes, Duval Street is tacky, touristy, bawdy and revoltingly raunchy in many places, but it's almost impossible not to have fun there, and I love Key West's rich history, which surrounds you in the downtown area and on the waterfront. There's nothing like having an adult beverage in Mallory Square or on the pier at the end of Duval Street at sunset. Not sure I'd vote for it as the "best" downtown, but it is certainly among the most interesting.

And for an appealing downtown in a smaller city, there's Mount Dora, with a multitude of shops, B&Bs and a beautiful lake.

I think we left one area off the list that would get my vote as best in Florida...South Beach. I think it is the best pedestrian friendly urban area, better even than DT Miami. I voted for my hometown of Orlando because I think it's a great area with great neighborhoods. Although many would consider downtown just let our Central Business District most locals consider a much larger area as downtown including Thornton park, Ivanhoe village, Mills 50/Viet Town, Sodo and College Park. Taken as a whole they create a great urban area. Please let's not get into a debate over this and that sucks. I love all parts of Florida and think all our downtowns are gems with great potential. I just voted for my home where I live and work but I think Miami is very impressive, St. Pete is amazing, Ft. Laudy/Las Olas is beautiful and like I said if I could vote Sobe I would.

According to me Downtown Miami is the best city. It is great, there are lots of shops and good restaurants. Its definitely one of the coolest neighborhoods in the city. Really enjoyed culturally mixed Downtown with the music and hustle that city life brings. Atleast it looks wonderful from any view.

Miami Beach is probably the best downtown. Downtown Miami proper has some work to do, but has a lot of potential.
