I am stuck on a few places to move back to. My criterea is to be near the beach, night life, recreation and amusement parks plus Veterans Medical Center. I think a location that gives me access to all of these would be ideal. I am single, 41, Army, Navy Vet, Jamaican and have kids that don't live with me right now but would visit or stay with me. My goal is to get a house with my VA certificate, whether I buy it outright or rent to own. Need an area with adults around my age, a schools and close to shopping centers and Caribbean ethnic stores. Good running trails and biking also.

Sounds like alot but I was stationed at NAS Pensacola and Nas Jax and got used to the proximaty to the beach and easy going people and loved the weather of Jax. Jax to me back in 2004 time frame was kind of boring but nice. So I have a rough area. Orlando, Gainsville, Jax, and Daytona. i have read what has been said but need input that is relevant to 2013. But leaning more towards north or north east of Orlando.

Well, if your Caribbean roots are important to you, I think South Florida would be a better bet. But Orlando has a lot of Latinos and people from the Caribbean moving there as well. If you want to be near the beach, however, I think Tampa (also has a growing Latino-Caribbean population) would be a better bet. Just look, would you rather be at Daytona?

OR close to St. Pete Beach?

Don't get me wrong, Daytona looks nice, but I think the Gulf side of Central Florida has prettier beaches.

The gulf side is much better then the ocean side.

Only Ft Lauderdale and some surrounding beach area compare to the gulf side but I would not live there.

Thanks for your service to our country!

Hope you do your research and find the perfect spot.
