Trying to decide where to go for New Years Eve. I know I have some time yet but trying to plan so I am not left with a room I don't like.

Where would be better in your opinion and why, Daytona beach or Tampa/St Petersburg area for New Years? No small kids just a couple in their late 30s/early 40s.

Thanks for your input.

Default none of the above is not an option

I need an either or. None of the above is not an option. We have settled on one of the two I don't need to start over with all of Florida as an option again.

I'd go with a neighborhood pub. Close to home, people you may know or at least people who share the same geographical area with you the rest of the year.

Definitely St Pete/St Pete Beach/Treasure Island. It's a bit more upscale though still very beachy and relaxed plus without the rough, seedier elements that are fairly pronounced in Daytona Beach.

WEll, I'm partial to Daytona but maybe google what's going on in both areas around New Years Eve to see what appeals to you more - it's early but probably plans are in the works at both places - am sure there's events in both areas (I know Orlando has a lot going on) - would keep an open mind - the Christmas lights are really pretty and lots of houses are decorated to the hilt (am assuming same goes on in Tampa/St P). In any case, both are neat places to visit the beach in December/January, we're still getting to know the area. There's little stickies on the top of each section - while they may be a year old, it may give you an idea of what's going on this year.

The Vinoy and the Don Cesare hotels in St Pete do a fair New years eve bash, not sure if those parties are private or not but worth a look.
