No long rant.

I was born in Florida. This year I was able to travel to New York and Las Vegas. I plan to leave Florida and never come back.

Yeah, I know. But it seems to me that if those folks to whom hard work is a foreign concept worked as hard as they do at coming up with excuses and blaming others for their lack of success, at actually setting and achieving goals, they'd really get somewhere.

When the subsidy for sink hole coverage ends (oh, and it will) watch what happens to the rates up in your neck of the woods.

Last I checked St. Pete IS on the coast.....

And what subsidy would that be for sinkhole coverage. I've had homeowner's insurance in Florida for well over 35 years, and I have never seen that, or any reference to it.

Methinks you don't know what you're talking about....

It's really simple. The jist of this thread is don't come to Florida with any high expectations. It's a place of mediocrity or perhaps even lower.

That's absolutely also been my experience. And I came here with a good income and will also be leaving with that good income. There are just to many better places to live, such as the RTP area. The water in Florida great here but not much else. You can always stay at the Hilton for a week and then go back to a decent, normal place to live.

As well as survived job loss and layoffs, salary stagnation, or even pay cuts in the years they worked. Ask me how I know.....

Excuses never have, nor will they ever, get anyone anywhere......

Too hard. Overtaxes their minds.

I just saw many if them get laid off in the last five years because of their lack of it.

Why do you think there is zero reason for a college grad to live here? They dont all work here but the do commute south everyday.

Stats on Hernando County from the U.S. Census:

Population, 2010 172,778

Bachelor's degree or higher, percent of persons age 25+, 2007-2011 16.2%

Do the math.
So you suggest living in SH is a good idea for a recent college grad? There are plenty of college grads from poor schools. I highly doubt anyone who went to a quality school is working at the distribution center.

Why not? If they like the area. When u say "quality school" what do you mean? Yale? Harvard? Dartmouth?
