And natives continue to leave for the Carolina's, North GA, TN...

I think I read that the bulk of people moving to FL are from NY, followed by people moving to FL from other countries.

Sometimes I wonder how long some areas will feel American anymore.

By definition, any part of The United States feels American. To use an overused but useful saying, America is what it is. Jesus Christ, you seem to think immigration is something novel, it isn't. I lived 60 years in a city full of immigrants from Ireland, Poland, Germany, Bohemia, Italy, Greece, Croatia, Mexico, Lithuania--you name it. Hell, I never met a real live white Protestant until I was out of high school; everybody I knew was Catholic, Jewish or Orthodox. Or if Protestant they were Black. I submit my experiences were as American as yours; given that they took place in The United States how can they have been anything but American?

Anyway, if you knew your country's history you'd understand that immigration of non Anglos has been an important social force since the 1840s, and arguably even earlier.

Yep, the weirdness that dominates Florida will keep people away. I think the campaign from the last couple years has worked well. We have people killing each other over pork chops(or some other cut of meat), the face eating zombie, the dude who died after a roach eating contest and we can't forget about that prize of a girl who had her anus tattooed on tv. GO FLORIDA!!

You now live in St Augustine, so you probably aren't seeing the change that many others are seeing.

Thx for the history lesson, but it doesnt make me feel any better. I'm talking specifically about FL.

I'll give you the face-eating zombie, but I've read articles about people getting stupid tattoos in stupid areas, people shooting eachother over an argument that started because of food, etc. I think the roach eating contest was among kids, correct? Kids will do stuff like that for money and/or attention.

Actually I am with you. Sad to have to speak the truth like you have.

I am lucky I live in a self contained, well to do neighborhood and we have a decent mixture of people which is fine but 99% of people living here are purely for the American culture, dream and ways.

Once I get outside of my little nest you will see Mexican flags, PR flags, Indian wording etc.

That is ok because I can go do what I need to do, have fun, enjoy ourselves and then come back into real Americana again.

Real natural born Americans and native Floridians are tired of Florida starting to look like Mexico and South America with all the run down trashy slums with spray painted crap all over walls, cages windows and broken down cars all over the driveways.

When you speak the truth their is always someone who will come along and defeat the destruction of American the way we knew it and of course Florida.

I came here for the weather, beauty, theme parks, natural beauty, beaches etc so I am lucky to be able to come home and not have to deal with all that outside crap of illegals, criminals, thugs, punks and lazy people who wont work committing crime after crime all over the place.

Come on, we have weirdos putting cats in the freezer, teachers raping our kids, gays having sex on the Orlando streets to prove a point, illegals driving cars and cannot read our signs, punk thugs running around trying to intimidate anyone who is not of any color.

Ridiculous.

The best thing for me is to be lucky enough to have the money to do what I want, when I want and where I want and the places we normally go is void of all those mentioned above.

I respect those who grew up here and see it falling apart. Sad they watched their beautiful state get changed mainly by illegals, pervs, sickos, criminals and lazy bums who wont work and expect us to keep them.

I dont like to see Floridas beauty being destroyed mainly by those above.

LOL We had new breaks put on one of our vehicles, the man could not speak a bit of English. The manager had to translate to me what he was asking me. The idiot who could not speak English was giving us nasty looks like I should understand what he was saying. Manager tells us he is from PR and came here through NY and is trying to learn English. Oh yea, bet he is.

Then the fool did the back brakes backwards, putting the wrong pieces in the hub on the wrong sides etc.

But he gets a job before real Americans do. Amazing.

Sorry ComSense you had to move back to a mess and it is not getting any better.

We came home from Disney/Epcot tonight after a nice night and realized how lucky we are to get to do what we want whenever we want. And then to get to sit on the lanai and enjoy the weather while texting family in Ohio who tells us it is snowing, 20 degrees and they are freezing.

Dont forget the kid who got stabbed over the Nike Jordons, the guy who put a cat in his freezer. The couple who left the Mom who died months ago lay in her bed to rot while they collected her SS check.

Moral values are not here, kids are like parents, lazy and dont want to amount to anything.

50 year old Dads who only work a part time job so they can buy beer and let the rest of us feed their kids.

Not much family values at all. Unless you are lucky enough to be able to afford a really nice area filled with people who value family, kids, the American way etc.

SunnDays- Thank Goodness for Oviedo, Winter Springs area where I live. I live in a nice little pocket where ppl give a $hit. My complaints arent really about where I live, but what I see in other areas. I love where I live, but if I lived in other areas, I'd be unhappy.

Its kinda $h!tty that you've been here for just a cpl yrs now and you see it too, knowing how big of a fan you were of FL, before you moved here. Now you'r ekind of seeing the negative aspects.

I was aware of the negatives long before I moved here.

That is why I rented my home in a "self contained" neighborhood.

Still a huge fan.

Beautiful, warm, lots to do, lots of money can be made here for someone like me who knows antiques, the beaches are amazing, themes parks, zoos, natural beauty.

I wont allow the bad stop us from having fun and enjoying the good things Florida offers us.

You have moved in and out of Florida a couple times like Swimmom and many others so you should be well versed on things here and a lot of help to others who want to move here.

The way I put it is if you cannot afford to live in a really nice area then dont come here because you will be stuck with a ton of low life, no values type of people who dont give a rats butt about anything in life.

Ha based on my own experiences I'd say what happened to you is "normal" lol.

But that's another story I'm too tired to share now.

On the other hand, one of my main beefs is the destruction of Florida's natural beauty. Many may disagree with me because I mean Old Florida wild beauty.

What's the deal with sodding over sand dunes on the beach??? apparently people don't like sea grapes and saw palmettos.

I don't like ficus hedges; I don't like grass. Yick.

The most beautiful neighborhood (to me ) in south Palm Beach county is Foxe Chase in Delray. Yeah, the houses are big and expensive (Don King has or had one there, with plenty of room for his family, friends and cars!) but that's not why it's so beautiful.

It's set in an old oak hammock. They didn't tear out the vegetation and put in sod all over the place. The heavily treed area feels about 10 degrees cooler than anywhere else. No one tore out the oaks because "that's not Florida". The oaks are natives, people.

Gorgeous, gorgeous, the way so much of this destroyed place used to be.
