I saw this on the Tampa thread, and considering how much hate towards the Miami metro there is on here, this proves it is actually a pretty nice place to live.

The hate about the South Florida metro is from typically from racists /bigots so I wouldn't place a whole lot of credibility on the comments read here, despite how they may cloaked to suggest otherwise.

I'd switch Miami Beach's #5 rank with Bellingham, Washington's #25 rank.

The northwestern corner of Washington state is absolutely beautiful. You have mountains, forests, coastline, and there are several islands you can take a ferry to from Bellingham. Best of all, the weather is rainy, but cool year round. It is a very pleasant part of the country.

I'd take that any day over Miami's heat, humidity, and crime.

Would not live anywhere near Miami.

I cannot believe Miami would be in any list that has any credible information.

I agree that the PNW is gorgeous, but I wouldn't take that endless rainy weather over Miami's weather. If I could have the temps of the PNW with sunshine - now that's perfect ... to me.

Miami Beach is like a different world from mainland Miami. Seriously, it's a different world separated by Biscayne Bay. For the most part, the trash doesn't live in Miami Beach. They can't afford $300,000 1 bedroom condos.

I live in Miami, not Miami Beach and I'm not trash. FYI - being able to pay 300K for a condo (which isn't all that much anyway) doesn't mean you aren't trash.

While most of these "top lists" are nothing but garbage, Miami does get an extreme amount of hate from jealous people.

but the survey was based on 2000 responses from across the country not the 5.5 million people that live in the Miami area. I would bet some of them would jump at the chance to leave but due to financial constraints they are stuck in metro miami.
the survey is biased to begin with because they only focused on "small to mid-sized cities with populations between 25,000 and 350,000"

from the article source
"We analyzed data on more than 1,700 cities throughout the United States. For our ranking, we focused in on the small to mid-sized cities with populations between 25,000 and 350,000. The results were then weighted based on the priorities set forth by you and your fellow citizens based on our 2,000-person, demographically-balanced survey."
