I am gathering some information about Florida towns...thinking about options for possibly relocating.

Background
My wife and I live in Charlotte, NC - originally from PA though. We love Charlotte and the cost of living here isn't bad (high taxes/property taxes though).
- I am interested if we would move to be closer to the beach (hopefully within an hour or less).
- The cost of living is important to me.
- I work in IT; I would like a city with a number of job options.
- My wife has a masters in History but has been working in insurance for years.
- I would like even warmer weather.
- We don't have kids but may in the next 1-3 yrs.

I'm torn between Jacksonville, Tampa/St Pete, or somewhere else?...I'm open to suggestions.

Jacksonville will probably be your best option given it has the lowest unemployment rate, a diverse economy and lowest cost of living of Florida metros. There are three good school districts to choose from (St John's County (#1 in state out of 67 school districts, Nassau County which is #10 and Clay County #13) also. I would look specifically at places like Julington Creek, Nocatee and World Golf Village in St John's County, followed by Yulee/Fernandina Beach if you prefer a slightly more rural feel.
