You asked me what was so bad about NYC. I answered you.
Rents out side of NYC in the metro area are as high.
Big difference than a city and a far flung suburb. I grew up in a city.
NYC has some great attributes. I just wouldnt want to live there.
That wasnt a hypothetical day. It was real life. Those are facts.
You always think discussion is argument.
Enjoy your days in FL.

Dude....

I just read that novel again......

"It was real life...those are facts"

There is NO DIFFERENCE between what you posted and the posts that you claim are "mistruths" on this board.....

NO DIFFERENCE.

Give it up.

HEY, "Spring Hillian".

The median household income in Manatee County (Where I live) is $47,910. The median household income in Nassau County New York (Where I used to live) is $97,049. Using a COL calculator, the Nassau equivalent of 47,910, is 63,744. The Manatee equivalent of 97,049, is 72940.

Do those calculators account for all of the extra taxes and higher sales tax?

Is there any place in Florida where employers in general pay a living wage corresponding to the cost of living? I just don't see how most people survive there with the high rent, high home prices, sky high insurance and high gas prices and low relative wages.
I live on the west coast of Florida. I do lots of driving between Pinellas and Hillsborough counties. Pick just about any place and you will find nice subdivisions. Nice middle class and upper middle class homes. families with young kids and teenagers. Point is they need GOOD JOBS to pay those mortgages. These people are not making $8.00 Hr.

Try telling that to the malcontents who will swear till death that nobody makes a decent living in FL and that all the houses in subdivisions are owned by retirees or people who made it big up north and moved here with their money. Nothing will sway them from that line of thinking.

Relocation Essentials

The median income is not a question here. It is how much of that median income gets spent on essentials of living.

Most people in Nassau County make a whole lot more because the cost of living demands it.

"Mar. 2012 cost of living index in Nassau County: 153.1 (very high, U.S. average is 100)

I dont see why the concept of costs of living differences is so difficult for some to understand.

In Nassau County property taxes alone average $13,000 a year.
