Again, she just wants to take her current FL tag off her car here and put it on her new car, not get a whole new FL tag.
If she's getting it from a dealer, why not ask them? If she has everything from FL already, I don't see why it would be any different then when I lived in Jersey and bought cars in PA , Del., NY, VA,and Vt. Ultimately, the tax goes to the state of registration and the papers take a little longer. She will probably get a temp tag until the paper work is done.

This is especially true with insurance claims.

I moved here 7 years ago from CT. I was pulled over after 90 days for having a CT plate still on my car and the cop gave me a verbal warning that if I lived here over 90 days...need to register HERE IN FL. NO if ands or buts. I went right to MVD. I owned a Saab at the time, it was roughly 350.00. They go by "weight" of your vehicle. CT always went by year and make of car. The fancier the car, the MORE you pay up there. Insurance is a lot more down here too. But can not escape that. Also had to get my drivers license transferred. They take your license from the state you used to live, expose of it, and hand you over your new FL drivers license. FLORIDA will not allow you have a drivers license in more than this state. I can see why. It's a control issue, to keep track of drivers here. We have enough snow birds all over the road who do not want to comply with FL rules. You will get caught and pay steep fees.
