Take a look at central Fl. Maybe along the east coast. Titusville, Merritt Island, maybe more inland. Leesburg area perhaps.

I am out on the west coast 45 miles north of Tampa in Spring Hill. Its suburbia but its a busy suburbia. Used to be mostly rural, it still is outside of the immediate Spring Hill area. Do a Google on FL Nature Coast

I originally moved here to be close to my best friend and the ease of traveling to Peru, a country I volunteer and help poverty stricken kids, but now I think I made the wrong decision based on my health and the lack of stress free living. I just want a nice city with normal traffic, things to do, decent people, near the Beach without having to be a Donald Trump. This is really starting to affect my health. Another friend recommends North Palm Beach and another friend/Realtor wants to show me a Condo at the Ritz Carlton on Singer Island but at $1.2M bucks!

Honest opinions?

North Palm might be ok but Singer Island can be rough trying to get to/from US1 or I95. Ritz is a nice looking building but the surrounding area sucks at that price point.

I can resonate with the OP.

It seems like the congestion, people, and overall culture of South Florida take a significant toll on transplants from more normal places (i.e., Northeast, Midwest, West Coast) after about 2-5 years, which is when most either return home or move on to a different place.

Thank goodness all I have to do is drive through that place to get the the Keys for a few days.

Not the type of people I want to be around either.

You forgot to mention one of the highest rates of aids in America comes from that area.

Uhh. And how about the FL natives! They all left and many used to love it down there.
