A Public Records Report of the last two school years 2011-2012 and 2012-2013 of the Santa Rosa School District shows over 200 incidents of corporal punishment with Over 75-80 incidents per year of Developing Female and Male High School students being hit by the Principal, Assistant Principal, and Deans at Navarre High School. More students are hit at this school than at any school in three surrounding NW Florida counties. Students are beaten for trivial things such as cell phone use, tardy, dress code infractions etc. The administration offers or trades freedom for violence (detention/suspension or paddling). This is done in large part to keep the suspension ratings of the school down. School officials initiate and offer the violent treatment to parents and students trying to gain acceptance. This is coercion and exploitation of young people. Escambia county does not hit it's students and Okaloosa county outlawed corporal punishment a few years ago, but these assaults are still happening throughout this school district.

Paddling is being beaten? Hardly.

Get a grip.

I for one commend them! My guess is that these kids aren't randomly being "beaten", they are getting a couple whacks to straighten them out.
When I was in school corporal punishment was acceptable and I got my rear smacked with a board a few times. Guess what!? I didn't do whatever it was that got me that paddle again and generally tried to avoid the other things that would cause me to get it again. It's called consequences for your actions. Something that seriously lacks for todays youth. "Timeouts", detentions and suspensions (in school or out) are a joke and the kids know it. Do something bad and get a vacation, yeah that'll teach 'em.
I don't condone genuine child abuse, meaning actually beating a child. A board across the hiney a couple times is not detrimental to their health (medical conditions excluded) or mental well being though because it's not random, for no reason or done in anger. It's a very well known consequence for making the choice to do something they know is against the rules and is unacceptable behavior. Speaking from experience, it is one helluva deterent to doing things you know you shouldn't do.
I'd be willing to bet that if you followed them for 20 years you'd find that more of those kids turn out to be better, more morally centered adults than their counterparts at passive schools if all other demographics remained equal.
"Spare the rod, spoil the child" is not an instruction, it's a warning.

If Trayvon Martin went to that school, he might still be alive.

Pin a medal on them, the last of the educators in the school industry.

It's great that the parents are also being spanked!

Your "Guess" is wrong and that is why a public records request of the school district was done. I don't think being hit "straightened" you out because you now condone the violence to be used on others. We are trying to stop the violence in our public schools. All learned experts and professionals have presented decades worth of volumes of research and evidence that this is harmful to young people; particularly
15-18 year old developing high school females and males. All Mental, health, and educational associations in our country are against this mistreatment of our youth. There is not a single reputable organization in the United States that condones this. There are many verses and interpretations in the book you are quoting from-We don't sacrifice animals any longer, do we?
