Hi,
We are an Irish family with 3 children ranging in age from 12 to 1. I have dual citizenship and considering applying for greencards for my family. Before I apply for visas I am trying to figure out if there is work in the area we would consider moving to. We want to be near Fort Walton Beach area as this is were I have family.
My partner is an auto body technician/ spray painter and I work in a pharmacy(not a pharmacist) but will work in anything I could get. We would be making the move for a better quality of life, does anyone think we will get that over there? Would medical/ health insurance be offered with my partners job? What would the average salary be for this tpe of job over there? Any info would be very much appreciated

The Pensacola/Ft Walton Beach area has a very low unemployment rate so the odds should be fairly good for you. I can't really compare quality of life of either but if you're looking for more sunshine and warmer temperatures in a fairly safe area you'll find that there. The public schools are also quite good in that area (among the best in Florida). In terms of salary Pharmacy Techs or Assistants typically make in the range of 25,000 per year, with drugstores such as CVS or Walgreens probably the best route to finding a job. Auto Body Techs average around 30,000 per year depending upon skill level and employer. You're most likely to have access to a decent health insurance plan for the family via your workplace (examples such as Walgreens, CVS, Publix or Target), though it'll probably be available at both employers if he works for something other than a small independent.

I would say so as the average household income in the area sits around 40K.

Millions of Americans do it every day so you can too.

Of course we have 92 Million people OUT OF THE WORKFORCE with plenty of them receiving some type of government money but alot of that is questionable, IMO. Since maxing out your government money in a family of 4 pays more than $60K jobs. So they work under the table for spending money.

This includes everyone age 16 and older. Regardless the reason, (there are many "opinions")...it's not cool when a third of your population is NOT WORKING LOL.

The biggest question facing the U.S. economy: Why are people dropping out of the workforce?

But if you're moving with no savings and planning to stay with family, be prepared for it possibly taking awhile to find jobs. There are plenty of "entry level" jobs Help Wanted" in my county posted in windows and doors.

You will need healthcare in the interim and can apply for Obamacare if you have the money to pay the coverage but you need to see if your children will be included. Otherwise, nobody is turned away in the case of going to the Emergency Room in hospitals. By law.

I wonder if he would be qualified for a career with Piper Aircraft, if the job translates from cars to planes?
