Hey everyone,

So I'm a 24 year old male who recently graduated college. I've lived in ocean city maryland for the past 6 years but now want to relocate to florida. I was hoping someone could give me some places that would fit my moving criteria. I want to move to a city (can be big or small) that has a low cost of living, relatively close to the beach, has a young population and a somewhat low crime rate. thank you so much in advance

Jacksonville would be a good option for you. It has a fairly decent (and diverse) economy, a low cost of living, is on the coast with nice beaches, has a young population overall (34 years old) and a fairly low crime rate in terms of where you're more likely to live. Florida cities (and many cities in the South) will show high overall crime rates but unlike most larger cities in the North, the violent crime aspect is very much segregated into very poor/Black-populated neighborhoods you would most likely never set foot in which affects many zip codes. I live in Central Florida in a town with a supposedly high crime rate and in a zip code that's "the worst" yet am a good 2 to 3 miles from the bad areas and have never had an issue personally or in this home for the 30+ years I (and formerly my parents) had lived here. Not to bore you, but that's the case pretty much all over Florida so it's worth noting.

South Florida, Tampa/St Pete or Jax would be the three metro options for lots of young people. Jax would be the cheapest of the three.

To the OP....all three areas while young in nature, are distinctly different and each has it's own fans. I would recommend performing due diligence by narrowing your list based on your own criteria/lifestyle and then visiting when possible to form your own opinion.

Jacksonville would be you best bet for affordability, least expensive metro area in Florida w/ the lowest unemployment rate of the major cities, has a decent amount of nightlife and some great golf options nearby including World Golf Village which houses the World Golf Hall of Fame and two very highly rated courses, has a young population.

***MOD CUT***
