Retreat from what? In case you did not get it, Zimmerman was found not guilty. The real thug was the punk kid who hates anyone asking him questions including his own parents.

He went looking for trouble and found it. Only thing is he attacked the wrong person who was lucky enough to stop Martin from killing him like he intended to do.

Martin should have went to his Dads apartment and not doubled back around looking for trouble. He would be alive today had he behaved and minded his own business. I am sure had he survived his attempted murder of Zimmerman he would have been charged with assault or attempted murder.

How can you defend yourself if you get jumped? Having a gun on you would make this situation much worse.

How many idiots with guns now look for trouble becuase they now know they can get waway with killing someone in FL?

Like I said we should have kept the old self defense laws, there was nothing wrong with them. Im a Florida Native not some idiot transplant and I have a CWL and 2 handguns, but I rarely leave the house with them, I have no need to.

I don't know how I feel about the law, but I think it's dumb to think "SYG" CAUSES more shootings.

Most people in the heat of the moment are not going to think, "hey, because this is a SYG state, I can shoot this person and claim self defense."

That isn't the fact pattern in Zimmerman, and it's not the fact pattern in Dunn. Those guys reacted how they did and THEN used the self-defense justification (which, btw, exists in all states, SYG is just another layer) to try to justify their shooting.

And for the record, black men take advantage of the protection of SYG in Florida and are disproportionately more likely to be successful in its use than white men, so it has nothing to do with race.

Yea but when you have a retired ex-cop in a movie theatre mad at someone texting their 5 year old daughter during a movie preview, Im sure they very well thought about the SYG law before they decided to murder someone in cold blood.

You are "sure"? How so?

Cold blooded murder, by the way, is the antithesis of SYG/self defense of any kind.

Dunn on the other hand, do not know enough and still believe there is more to that story then told.

Stand your ground saved George Zimmermans life from an account from a kid who was determined to kill him.

Ask yourself, who threw the first punch and was the one who was the actual attacker. Answer is Martin.

I believe it was self-defense, not stand your ground....

Zimmerman hunted down and executed and unarmed teenager for no valid reason. Zimmerman was the one, powered by the SYG law, rolling around the neighborhood looking for somebody to kill. The racists around the USA made sure Zimmerman had a legal defense capable of spinning reality to protect their hero.

Racists believe there is more to the Dunn story, but the truth is Dunn, an individual highly motivated by a hardcore racist mindset and SYG, executed an unarmed teenager because he did not like the music he heard.

It is certain, that Reeves, a racist thug ex-cop, found quite a bit of murder motivation in SYG. He sat there and thought, well I'll just murder this nice fellow for no reason and then claim I was standing my ground.

It's a little more complicated than that. The statistic you're hearing was cherry picked from a set of statistics that are overall quite a bit different.
