I moved to Florida in 1980 and never looked back. Moved from CT, but born and raised in NY, then lived in various New England States during and shortly after college. It hasn't been all sunshine and roses here, but I wouldn't have missed it for the world. I do find, however, that I don't tolerate the prolonged heat and humidity as well as I used to. I don't miss the cold and the snow and ice, but I do miss the spring and summer up North sometimes.

But I love this state. It gets in your blood somehow.

It is amazing that there is such a division of opinion on life in FL. It appears that those that are happy living, working and succeeding here outnumber those who would rather be elsewhere.

I have also lived a number of different places but immediately before I moved to Florida in 2003 I was living in Boston. My situation was a little differnt than many in that I moved here to accept a job and the fact that it was in Florida was frankly a negative for me at the time. But everything else about the job won out over the others I was considering and here I am. And actually, I have since changed jobs and moved from the East Coast of Florida to the West, choosing to stay here with the last job change over moving out of state again. As others have said, it isn't perfect and there are certainly things I miss about Boston and the other places I lived, but Florida efinitely has its positives. I am glad I moved, glad I gave Florida a chance on its own terms, and glad I stayed. It's home now - I've lived here longer than any other state apart from my original home state of Michigan.

I lived and worked in Boston before moving here. Ugh. I don't miss having to shovel my car out from under the snow, nor do I miss the biting wind off the bay. In fact, there's not a lot I miss about Boston. Some of the architecture was interesting. But it was just a place to live and work after college. I miss the Cape sometimes, though.

That is amazing. I seem to be the only one who would rather be somewhere else.

Mr E don't you know that people that come to Florida and don't like it and leave feel they need to bad mouth Florida for the rest of their lives

Moved here in '88 and now faced with age catching up and family up north,CT,we will go back to spend remaining years.
It will be with much reluctance, snow, ice and cold for the most part will not affect us since we can hunker down, similar to the heat & humidity here in Florida.
For us North Florida has been a no hassle area, been treated well.Very inexpensive area to live unlike CT which is a regressive state with no exemptions for seniors. We have no complaints, very easy to live here with I-10 & I-75 nearby.

So you seem to be telling me that Comments on Florida are only for Floridians? Please point out where i've crapped on Florida in this topic.
The title of the topic seems to be indicating a choice it didnt say only those with glowing servile platitudes and residents of Florida need respond.
Do us both a favor and put me on your ignore list.
