Not sure what you're looking for here, but to determine "most desirable" all you have to do is look at real estate prices. So a few would be Star Island off Miami, the Ocean Reef Club area of Northern Key Largo, areas of Palm Beach, and Key Biscayne off Miami. Anywhere you can park a 100ft yacht off a dock.

"Desirable" is entirely a personal preference. Also, what do you mean by South Florida (anything south of Orlando or something else). Do you have a price range in mind or is money no object? What are your criteria? ... schools, neighborhood, work proximity, etc? ---

Until you spend a few minutes 'thinking-out your question', you can't really expect others to spend their time trying to read your mind.

A partial list of areas/municipalities that may fit your criteria (with emphasis on partial because I'm mostly familiar with the counties north of Miami):

Miami-Dade: Coral Gables, Pinecrest.

Broward: Weston, Cooper City, Lighthouse Point, Parkland, Southwest Ranches and western areas of Davie, Pembroke Pines and Plantation.

Palm Beach: Boca Raton, Wellington, Palm Beach Gardens, Jupiter.

And if you're looking for a small-town atmosphere: Stuart, Palm City and Jensen Beach in Martin County.

I stand by my answers then. The places where celebrities and billionaires choose to live, and dignitaries choose to stay. A house that goes for under 5 million is small change in this arena.

This article also cites several such neighborhoods:
