Oh yes, sure people are moving to Florida, not just the places listed but expensive South Florida too, maybe we are not making the Top 10 list, but the high % of them do not have any worries about making ends meet or finding jobs that pay a livable wage.

Don't worry Orlando, because high paying jobs are on the way!

Anyway, it certainly fills my bill!

Would have thought Tampa/St Pete would have been more apropos.

Think they are lumping the coast cities down the west coast as a strip Metroplex, which is not a bad statistical grouping.

Its funny how some are stuck on the low paying jobs.

That theory has been blown down several times but it keeps getting up to be slapped down again.

LOL...if one reads the article...

#4 Orlando

"Warm weather, cheaper than Miami and, of course, home to Walt Disney World, Universal Studios and Sea World? It doesn't get better -- Well, except when the economy is strong and people start vacationing again, offering an increase in available tourism jobs, all of which is happening right now."

An increase in available tourism jobs...?? Oh yeah, those are notoriously high paying positions.

I'm guessing that's tongue in cheek humor. What exactly positions Orlando over similar mid-sized cities? It certainly wouldn't be the skilled labor force, average educational attainment or municipal/regional infrastructure companies looking to transfer or expand are looking for. That article is simply more wishful drivel by Central Florida "economic experts" trying to blow smoke. I have yet to see any national reports of credibility calling out Orlando as a mecca for high-paying jobs anytime soon.

Increased population via migration to Orlando and/or Florida would seem counter intuitive if dealing with facts....though I suppose we're not talking about many Mensa members when considering the phenomenon.

Why do you feel that everybody in the tourism biz is pushing a broom or a button after putting down the lock bar? Tourism is a huge business. It did not get that way with the people making minimum wage or a little better.

You need to step off the "high paying jobs" bandwagon.

If you keep your mind locked on entry level high school kid jobs you will never understand.

Stop "stewing" in your hatred, Kyle!

We all know that a rental truck company for the DIY mover is a good source to debunk the low wage myth. Anyway, it's not always about the money. I'm sure there are many people with a lifelong dream of working for $10hr at Disney and living in a roach motel.
