I know, you're thinking "oh no here comes more people!!!" My husband and I were raised in the south and we have spent the last 15 years in Pennsylvania! We are true southerners and would like to get out of the north.
I was looking at a couple of places and found Dunnellon to be a very friendly place and small town. We want to be in a rural place with a couple of acres for my animals. I also need to be close to a hospital because that is where my skills are. I was looking at Seven Rivers Hospital and their website is fantastic. I really like the "nature coast" side. Can anyone shed some light on the "real rural Florida" in that area.
I would appreciate anything anyone can tell me.
I know the brochures really paint a lovely rose colored picture but I want the "real" information on Florida in this day and time.
Thank you again,
Tazymae

Brooksville, FL. Down the road from two hospitals and lots of land and houses CHEAP!
Best wishes!

I agree with House4Sale. That area is nice. Nothing South of their though. They are trying to extend the expressway through there now. It could bring in lots more traffic.

Default go for it!

Personally, I visited Citrus County, and the Dunnellon area, and YES, I think is a very nice and livable area, very quiet, not congested and kind of rural, which is a good thing! Despite what many people think, I would go and move there! I love it! And it would be perfect for your animals, they can have lots of space.... and the price is right! Best of luck!

Default Thanks Big Kim. Best wishes, Taz!

Spring Hill is also nice and just a bit away from Brooksville.

Dunnellon is a nice rural area that hasn't been hit by the high costs of insurance or taxes. It is still one of the last untapped Florida areas not plagued by overgrowth or sinkholes. Spring Hill and Brooksville, although nice suffers from the sinkhole virus that costs both in insurance rates and repairs. Many a poor soul has fallen into the cavity. Better choice to stay further north.
