I am not a retried, conservative scared of everything type person locked up in the house fighting progress tooth n nail -worrying only about my own nest egg complaining of the new generation and any possible change! I can't think the same- I even tried to live in the over 55+ 2 times-- NO WAY-

I always loved the beautiful tropical view and kept my blinds open while living in FL. Everyone has their own ideas regarding privacy or climate control. Now we live in New England and back up to a wooded lake where no man ever walks yet our neighbors pull their blinds shut every time they go out so no one can look in. I don't even have blinds!

I don't want people looking in. Now that a lot of snowbirds have come back from Quebec I notice that they keep their curtains open at night and when I walk my dogs I can see right into their homes. Also when it's sunny it keeps a little of the heat out.

Our house backs up to a tidal canal off the Peace River, so we see water, mangroves and wetlands, along with the flora and fauna there, and no neighbors. We have blinds but they're seldom closed, and the windows have tinting on them so you can't see in from the outside, unless the lights are on. With all the light coming in from the windows and glass sliding doors open to the back, there's no need for lights, so anyone boating by on the canal wouldn't be likely to see anyone even if they looked. We don't close the blinds at night either, except in the bedrooms, and that's just for a bit of privacy in case our next door neighbor ( whose house isn't that close by, either) happened to be looking in that direction, because as others have said, even with tinting on the windows, you can see into the house if the lights are on.

I solve that problem with semi sheer panels-- can see out- get light, keep heat on other side and not that easy to see in on my windows that face the street etc

A few good trees- solves a lot of energy problems I cannot stand the new homes with out a miserable plant higher than 2 ft. by the front door- ugh
