I am new to this so can anyone help. My family and I planning to take the plunge and move to the Davenport area in Florida. To do this we will have to purchase a business using the E2 visa. This alone makes me nervous but it is our only way of hopefully living the dream. I know it will not be easy but my wife and I want the challenge.
We have done research on many things including college as our son will be 16 when we come. Does anyone have children who go to colleges in the Orlando area?.
Also any information on health insurance, car insurance and the cost of living would be appreciated.
We already own a property so I am ok we with that side of things.
Thank you Darren.

I"ll take a shot at some of your questions. Davenport is quiet but booming area as of lately. The fact that you are moving to Davenport with an E2 visa would lead me to believe you are moving from the UK? The cost of living in Davenport is relatively cheap, even for Central Florida standards. Car insurance really depends on how is covered as a driver, if you intend on putting your son on the insurance it will likely be fairly expensive. I can't tell you much about health insurance, most people take the option of buying private insurance.

Now as far as colleges, hopefully your son fulfills all the requirements to become a in-state Florida resident by the time he gets to college. I don't know the exact qualifications but it can make a huge difference when it comes to costs. Florida in-state tuition is well under half of what the out-of-state tuition is. Other than cost, University of Central Florida is the largest college located in Orlando area. It's an up and coming school with a very solid local and statewide recognition. It's a great place for your son to experience a typical American college experience. It's primarily known for Engineering and technical programs but also has Medical School and strong health programs.

Hope this helps and hope all works out well for you and your family.
