Hi, I live on Long Island and am thinking of moving to Florida. I will be visiting a friend in Plantation in a couple of weeks and thought of looking around but I know that it is a very busy place and quite expensive. I also have a friend who has a place in Barefoot Bay and I love it in that part of Florida, Melbourne, Sebastian, Vero.
Anyone with any info about those areas? It would be very helpful.
I really love Long Island but the expenses here are killing me and I am a Summer Beach person. Cold and gray versus Hot and Humid.
Sue

I live in West Melbourne after moving from Boston, wish the hell I moved here 20 years ago.
Ive lived in Melbourne for 7 years before moving to the West Mel area into a sub-division.
Barefoot Bay is ok but too close to the water for huricanes effects.
Do your homework and e mail me if I can help.

Palm Bay and Merritt Island are 2 other places you might check out both have very affordable housing. The areas are pretty quiet but growing. the beaches are nice all along the area. Most find they don't go as often as they think they will.
