I moved here from San Diego, and needless to say, I am a little disappointed in this place. It has been a truly isolating, lonely experience here. I feel like the people are very different. While they seem friendly enough it feels like people are not very straightforward and honest here. Everything is slow and inefficient here, and well backwards, for lack of a better word. They don't seem very welcoming of outsiders. The police are heavy-handed. There is very little between here and the larger cities in Florida. The trees are smothering. The Spanish Moss is creepy. I just find this place unfriendly and disturbing. I would definitely recommend coming here and spending a fair amount of time here to see if it is a place you will be able to adjust to.

Well it's a small college town which is vastly different than SD. If you don't have a connection to UF I'd imagine it wouldn't be a great place to live.
