I'm looking forward to finding a vital and friendly community in FL and WARM WEATHER. And a place which values education, diversity, acceptance, art, the arts, liberal ideas, creativity, and has access to organic food. Reading past posts, suggestions to similar threads were Gainesville, Sarasota, Tallahasse, Coral Springs, Belle Isle, Winter Park, Windermere, Broward County... Would any of these fit? Any suggestions are very very welcome!
Reread the OP's criteria which extends beyond liberal values and politics. Voting record alone doesn't achieve the other qualities mentioned.

EXACTLY! I've never understood why people always involve politics in decisions like that. I'm very political, but I could give a crap less how my neighbors vote.

Apparently you're not used to the flip side of the coin where one lives in a neighborhood/area where people routinely make disparaging comments about things you believe strongly in for example racial, homophobic or other hate-oriented topics. It's all well and good if you're part of that group I suppose but for others, not so much.

You'll have to explain to me the difference between living in a red or blue area as I dont get it, i've been visiting my Mom and Dad in the same house for 20 years (Springhill)and i have no clue whether the neighborhood is liberal or conservative.in fact most neighbors dont socialize with each other so what does it matter what the political makeup of a community is? Has the situation down there got so bad that liberals and conservatives are now confined to living in certain areas?
Help me out as i'm from Canada i feel i'm missing a piece of the puzzle.

It comes up in other community settings. We moved to a gated community last year. The neighbors have been very friendly. I suspect there are some conservatives and maybe even a few liberals, but that has never come up. I don't bring up politics, but that doesn't stop other people.

I've been in places- like our pool or hot tub where other people start conversations (ironically they were short term renters) about how bad this or that is. I really don't want to hear it, but it's even worse if you don't agree at all with their opinions. If you go to one of the posts on The Villages on C-D, they play FOX News in the town square. That would be like living in h*ll for a liberal.

Exactly where has that been?. Because over the years I've lived and visited all over Florida, and have heard very few comments of that sort. Those few I did hear I attributed to someone expressing his/her own opinions, which last I heard they still have a right to do.

Of course, I'm not a member of the Church of the Perpetually Offended so I'm not looking to take offense at random comments made by strangers, or even casual acquaintances.

I live in Seminole County, just outside of Orlando. I'm a native Floridian and have a pretty good grasp of the state as well and there are a number of areas where I have experienced people voluntarily voicing their opinions on topics one doesn't share with strangers or those they barely know. Your glib remark about being offended you might think is cute until it has personal connotations you don't find so chuckleworthy. It's truly fascinating that those least impacted have such global views of this topic.
