We went to Atlantic Ave in Delray Beach to spend the day and were horrified by all the speeding cars and crowded sidewalks. People eating on tables outside restaurants were blocking the sidewalks and people just standing around on the sidewalks wouldn't move to let us by them. The construction wasn't much better as some of the sidewalks were impassable and forced us out on the street to be the target of speeding cars and trucks. We went into a bar for a beer and the bill was $11.00 for 2 domestic beers with tip. We had heard that delray was a good place to visit but I think we'll head back to Ft Lauderdale for our day trips from now on as it seem much nicer there

$11 for 2 beers plus tip is not expensive. Like, not even close.

Also, that's just the nature of atlantic ave. It's common to have restaurants along the sidewalks have tables out there so guests can eat outside. Las Olas blvd in Ft Lauderdale is the same exact way anbd so is South Beach in Miami and just about any other "downtown" area... people eat outside in the cafes along the sidewalk, that's like a common thing.

It's funny how ppl perceive things differently. I think Atl Ave in delray is super cute and refreshing. It's got a lot of nice little shops, restaurants, bars, etc, it's quaint, family-friendly and adult-friendly, It's got some history, it's got the beach, it's got the natural beauty, I love downtown delray. It's classier than a1a along ft lauderdale where ppl are drinking at elbow room and these other dive bars....not that theres anything wrong with that...it's just sooo fort lauderdale to do that. Like biker ppl drinking and cheap dive bars along a tacky back drop of souvenir and tee-shirt shops.

^^^ I agree, FT Lauderdale seems nicer than Delray Beach??? Outside of maybe Las Olas Blvd, not so much.
