I'm getting married soon and my fiance and I agree that we should get out of NJ. We want to live in year round warm weather areas. We would be doing this in 2016. I have plenty of time to research, find a nice job, and plan everything.

What we are looking for
1. SAFETY (we will start a family and want to make sure the area we will be in is safe).
2. Good schools (for our future children)
3. 0 to 60 minutes drive to the beach.

We would be renting first then buying. Looking to pay no more than $1400 for 2 bedrooms.

a few more information about us;
We both drive and have cars.
We don't speak Spanish.

EDIT: What do you guys think of Riverview, FL? or Boca Raton, FL?

Find job first, find place to live second. Salaries are not what they are in NJ (I'm from NJ, just retired and bought house in SWFL). Depending on what you find will determine how much rent you can afford. To say $1400/mo without having jobs down here yet is not realistic, you don't know what you'll make here.

This is why I mentioned that we are just looking for now and will be doing this in 2016. (a year from now).

I'm looking to first find the areas that will suit us then I will research the job markets for those areas.

There may be a few professions that have jobs available everywhere, but I don't know what they are and you've said nothing to indicate you're involved in one of them. Nobody is telling you not to move, they are telling you to put your efforts towards determining the availability of jobs for which you qualify before narrowing your area for residency. You may get 100 posts here but I doubt that any will endorse your plan to first find an area, then research the job market.

She said find a nice job first but of course you didn't see that and skipped to salaries typical City data.

FL1150 provided a good list (except for Royal Palm Beach, which I would replace with Davie) and of the two you mention, Boca Raton is in keeping with the rest. Riverview is okay but doesn't have the best schools. Look just to the east in Bloomingdale/FishHawk Ranch/Lithia for the excellent schools in that particular area.

You might also consider more places on the Gulf coast. The Tampa Bay area is the second largest metro area in the state so in terms of jobs would be a good place to be looking. In terms of safe neighborhoods with excellent schools with reasonable beach access check out Palm Harbor, East Lake, Oldsmar, Safety Harbor and Westchase.
