I realize there are tons of these posts soliciting advice, so thanks in advance to anyone who answers!

My husband and I have a 3-yo and a baby and are looking to relocate to somewhere in Florida from Boca. The house prices here are still too crazy for what we want. We're looking for a 4+ bedroom home, ~2000+sqft, .5 acres for around $350K. Great school districts, nice neighborhoods. We like to keep busy so being near a city is important. My husband doesn't want to live in the "country" but I love outdoor activities like fishing, natural springs, nature trails, etc. We have family in Gainesville and in Boca so ideally we'd like to move somewhere in between. I'd like to have a little more "winter" feeling than what we have now and find a house with a fireplace.

We work remotely so we can move wherever we want, so we're open to all suggestions. We've considered Lake Mary and Melbourne in case my husband ever wants to change jobs (he works in software), but maybe there are other areas we aren't aware of so I thought I'd try my luck here.

Thanks!

You might check out Sanford (adjacent to Lake Mary) which has a good number of homes on the west side of town (west of I-4) within your price range which are semi-rural but close to plenty of shopping/services and has the best school district in the Orlando metro area.

I know it's not near Gainesville nor boca but Tallahassee fits the rest of the bill. Or look at the west cost
