We just finished changing all our light bulbs over to LED bulbs. The prices have really come down and there are so many options. The old bulbs used so much more energy, which cost you money. However, what I really find interesting is that the heat produced by the old bulbs, including CFL bulbs, is simply being pumped into our homes, which we then have to run the AC to get out. So we are paying twice.

In a state such as Florida, where air conditioners run a lot, why pay more to artificially heat up your home, to then have to pay more to cool it down? The cost of the bulbs is recovered very quickly.

It's such a simple thing and now the price is right. It's probably one of the best cost saving improvements you can do yourself. Look into it.

Great advice, NPG, but going in I thought this was a GEICO advertisement!

I did this last year when I moved back into my house. I had a more efficient heat pump installed about the same time so I don't know how much of the savings come from the New bulbs.

The can lights in the kitchen pump out a ton of heat and it just got me to thinking how our newer AC has to cool that down, as well as the normal Florida weather. Then I saw the LED prices had dropped and it became a no brainer.

Just take them with you when you move.....LOL!

you can also use various direct from china buying websites and buy them in bulk at 1/3 the cost. it just takes a few weeks to get here. Of course there is the fact that a large LED bulb tech company is right on Satellite beach.

This part covers it, at least for me, in that regard:
