Hi, I currently live in Fort Lauderdale, FL and I am tired of the high rent here so I am thinking about moving to Jacksonville, FL or Gainesville, FL. I am of Caribbean descent and I am a hairstylist so I am looking for a neighborhood that is well diverse with black people or mixed and is safe and not racist and hair salons(don't have to be a black salon). What are the best neighborhoods to live at in Jacksonville, FL or Gainesville, FL that is not high in crime that is very diverse race wise and have nice non-getto places to go and network with people?

For both diversity and safety I would stick to Jacksonville. Check out the Riverside-Avondale neighborhood which is one of the more desirable places in Jacksonville.

Agreed, you'll probably find a larger number of people interested in your services in Jacksonville. Gainesville is the heart of KKK territory. I'm white and still don't like the vibe there.

This.
While Gainesville itself may have a diverse demographic, once you step out of the college area, you'll be in the "old South." You'll want to be in a bigger city, and Jacksonville will by far be more appealing to you.
