Hey Manny, I live in Citrus County, originally from NY also. It is a nice quiet place to live (I'm in Inverness), lots of farmland, not a lot of great shopping or nightlife. Not a lot for kids to do in this town, but we are only about an hour from Tampa and an hour from Orlando (where Disney is). The one thing that really struck me when I first moved here is how friendly people are. Housing prices are still reasonable and crime rate is relatively low. Schools are pretty good, teachers really seem to care about the kids and they always look out for the little ones. Inverness is the county seat, so that's where most of the government buildings are, where you go to register your car, deal with property taxes, courts, sheriff, etc. So far we've been lucky and have not had any major hits from hurricanes, but summer thunderstorms are the usual, lots of rain, LOTS of lightning, occasional power outages. Hope this helps, good luck in your search!

manny.c,
I would be careful about double posting the same question twice. Have you looked at your first thread, as I did respond to you specific questions there......

I live in Spring Lake.

Nice area (spots) looks like nothing is in the area, but once you get in and look around there is plenty of shopping - but not a lot to do.

the gas prices (at the moment 2.10) is reasonable (miami - 2.50)
but they stick you for everything -

the electric deposit was 390.00, just for a deposit - they originally wanted 410.00 but i complained and they dropped it a little.

there are no beaches as one would think - you have to drive down to St. Pete for a decent one.

best of luck
