well i'm fairly a new resident here, i currently rent......i voted no........if i were to buy a new home it amendment 1 wouldn't even apply to me...also this law will cut some funding for schools,fire fighters, and law enforcement....the schools down here are already subpar so why would i say yes.....

The pittance of an increase in the homestead exemption will have virtually no impact.

Portability may stimulate some buying and selling within the state, but, still, in current conditions, it will have little impact.

Prices need to continue drifting down and the economy, including financial conditions, must stabilize, these two factors would have the most impact.

The wild card is the riddled monetary and credit system: the Fed is one step away from throwing reserve notes from helicopters again and financial companies may go back to 2004-2005 lending standards.

The "cut" in local government revenue will have no impact on basic services, and people with positions in local government will look for other ways to milk residents to continue to fund their own pet projects.

I just saw a figure that in the last few years their revenues have gone up 85% and the tax cut will take back about 5% of that. What were they doing just a few years ago before all this money came in? What have they done with the windfall of unexpected money the last few years? All of a sudden they have to lay people off? It is all lies but, if they are in fact telling the truth then they "REALLY" need to be investigated as to how they have been spending/wasting, our money. If they are in fact telling the truth then yes, some should lose their jobs and it should start at the top.

totally agree with macguy here. there has been a lot more revenue generated in the last 4 years even but no improvement in services per se. florida will have the casino money so i can't see why our politicians can't budget the money better. they could start with pay cuts. we have city people making over 100,000 in sebastian. (like our supervisor of elections). when wages are depressed in this area, that is too high of a salary. there are other jobs like that here. i think more people will consider moving to florida because of the bad weather elsewhere, the drop in home prices, the property tax rollback, and the decrease in the prime rate. it will still take a while to sell the current inventory of homes in the state, especially for investor properties, so i don't see any immediate big impact on home sales or rentals.
