It seems everybody thinks Florida begins in Orlando and ends in Miami HELLO! THere is another half of a state there!! From Jacksonville over to Pensacola...yes, parts of it are VERY scary and shall we say "remote". But there are plenty of areas to live that don't require a "foreign" visa to work and have more than one stop light and two gas stations ....just a thought to look North and not necessarily a few state up...

Well the person did specify SOUTH Florida. Well it is a third world country, the more affluent homes often have jail-like iron fences with posts topped with lights. Most people cut down the trees so their concrete lawns don't get full of leaves. To get a good paying job in south Florida you need connections, and in Miami there's a lot of corruption to deal with if you start a business. You absolutely will not have time for anything but work and hassle. If you were here before the RE bubble you may be struggling, but the newcomers need to bring plenty of money to afford the free time to enjoy "paradise". If you are getting a transfer from your company that's fine. If you are looking for a new job with good pay, good luck.

$9 an hour with a masters? Thats ridiculous! What kind of job? You deserve much better! Should easily make at least $20 an hour! I used to work at Publix and some of the people were making $9/hour and still in high school! With a masters, it should be easy to find at least $20/hour job and elsewhere you could get $25-30+ hour!
