The real purpose of this thread was to explain why FLA teams didn't seem to draw well. I think it has been answered several times. Has to do with the transient nature of the population (snowbirds), the transplants who are still loyal to their former city's team, the economy, the weather/heat, the chronic losing by many of them, and the either good (Lightning) or bad (Dolphins/Marlins) front office mismanagement. One pro franchise in Tampa has an outdated, poorly located stadium (Rays)....... U of F and FSU seem to have a loyal and geographic area unaffected by snowbirds and transplants is able to fill their stadiums. U of Miami has had problems maybe because of stadium location. Maybe this thread can be put to rest once and for all.

I was just at my alma mater for the florida/ florida state game and it was, and always is, an amazing climate for a game and two programs that will be in the top 10 in football next year . some of the best and passionate college fans in the country in gainesville and tallahassee in my opinion, but losing pro sports teams with expensive tickets and bad locations for stadiums are going to fail for sure

The lightning have one of the top 10 highest home attendances in the nhl this year,100% home attendance, higher home attendances than alot of canadian teams ,buffalo , new jersey devils, islanders etc. Build a good team in a great location like Amalie that is a fun night out in tampa and worth the high price, fans will come
