My Husband was offered a job in Altamonte Springs, FL and things are happening fast. We are looking in rent in an area that has good schools as we have 1 in elementary and 1 in Highschool. We also have an almost 3 year old daughter. We like to be outside, we have a small dog and my Husband would not like a commute longer than 30 minutes. Where are some good places to start looking. We are from Chicago, and have never been out there. We are coming in two weeks for house hunting and I don't want to be wasting time driving around places/towns that do not meet our needs. So, things to do, places to avoid? All suggestions will be appreciated! Thanks in advance

Well, Altamonte and surroundings is generally a good, safe area. Check out Longwood, East Apopka, Brantley area, Lake Mary, Winter Springs... You really can't go wrong with the immediate surroundings of Altamonte.

Altamonte westside, wekiva/sweetwater, huntclub, bearlake, longwood, lake mary, maitland and lake brantley are all good options.

For quality of schools, services, neighborhood-feel and commute you're looking for I would focus on the Wekiva Springs Road corridor north/northwest of SR434. The communities of Wekiva, Sweetwater Oaks, Fox Valley and Sabal Palm are the neighborhoods I would most highly suggest.
